It is made by projecting all points on Earth's surface up to the satellite and recording them on a horizontal plane that is tangent to Earth's surface directly below the satellite. It is what you would see from a satellite located immediately above that point and high enough above the Earth to see the entire map area. It views the Earth from a point located directly above 10 degrees north latitude and 20 degrees east longitude. It presents the continent in the form of a Lambert Azimuthal Equal Area Projection.
